How does gematria calculator work

Do you want to learn more about gematria and its use in the Hebrew language? A gematria calculator is a tool used to calculate the numerical value of Hebrew words, based on their letter-to-number equivalents. Gematria is an ancient process that assigns numerical values to words or phrases in order to uncover hidden meanings or associations between words or phrases.

The gematria calculator works by taking the numerical equivalent of each letter of the Hebrew alphabet and assigning it a value. For example, for the first letter, Alef (or "Aleph"), has a numerical value of 1; for the second letter, Beth (or "Bet"), has a numerical value of 2; for the third letter Gimmel (or "Gimel"), has a numerical value of 3; and so on. Once all of the letters have been assigned their respective numbers, then the gematria calculator adds them up to obtain a total number that is associated with that particular word or phrase.

For example, if we took the Hebrew word for love (Ahava) and used it in our gematria calculation, we'd first find out what each individual letter stands for numerically. We'd then add up all of these letters: Alef = 1 + Heh = 5 + Vav = 6 + Heh = 5 = 17. This means that when we talk about "love" in Hebrew its numeric value is 17.

The numerical values themselves don't necessarily mean anything until they are compared to other words or phrases that also have numeric equivalents, which then can lead to possible connections between them. For example, in Jewish mysticism there are certain attributions made for each number such as 10 being related to divine judgment whereas 11 represents harmony (~Shalom~). The mystical implications behind similar numbers have been alive since at least ancient times and remain somewhat mysterious today.

To make it easier for people who are not proficient in Hebrew letters and gematria calculations, there are several different software programs and smartphone apps designed specifically for calculating spiritual meanings from numbers using gematria calculators. These will instantly give you an idea of any hidden meanings associated with word or phrase you're researching using just a few keystrokes.
